Grant Awarded for Writing Math Curriculum Designed for Successful Students with Learning Differences

Spring Valley School is honored to announce a generous grant from Protective Life Corporation to support the writing of a comprehensive math curriculum designed to support students with learning differences such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, and ADHD.

¨A standards-based math curriculum guided by research, incorporating Orton-Gillingham’s multisensory techniques, and giving extra workspace will allow us to meet the needs of our students,¨ says Laura Griffin, Dean of Faculty and Academics at Spring Valley School. ¨This curriculum will be designed with the LD population in mind. The simple layout, spiral reviews, and carefully planned lessons will ensure our students´ understanding and success in math.¨

Spring Valley School (SVS) utilizes small class sizes, specially trained educators, and multi-sensory teaching approaches to meet the varied learning abilities of their students. Spring Valley’s partnership with Protective helps ensure that exceptional students in Central Alabama have access to supportive mathematical instruction that can transform their approach to learning and ultimately yield bright outcomes.
