Samantha is a true southern peach. She was born and raised in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains and has lived in Birmingham for three years now. She graduated from the University of North Georgia with her degree in mathematics as well as minors in physics and statistics. She has been an active private tutor since and will be teaching middle grade math. She is very much looking forward to using her love of math and science to help students better understand all the different applications for their classes and pursuing STEAM careers in the future. In her first year, Sam taught middle school math and STEAM. This will be her second year teaching at Spring Valley and she looks forward to teaching upper school digital coding and media and middle school science. In her spare time, Samantha enjoys being outdoors, frequenting Oak Mountain State Park with her fiancé, Tracy, and fur baby, Akota. She is a big foodie who has thoroughly enjoyed the Birmingham food scene as well as experimenting in her own kitchen. She has also spent a fair amount of time in a coffee shop, so she is always down for coffee.
