Angela Gillespie is the 3rd grade teacher at Spring Valley School. She was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2008, she graduated magna cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College with a bachelor’s degree in collaborative education and a minor in Spanish. She is highly certified to teach both general elementary education and special education grades K-6th. She is certified to teach and make accommodations for students with a wide range of learning disabilities, including those with cognitive, behavioral, physical, and/or multiple disabilities. Mrs. Gillespie is trained in Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory methods, and is currently in the process of becoming CALT certified through the Neuhaus Education Center. Mrs. Gillespie has had the privilege of working for Spring Valley for 9 years and is passionate about teaching all students! In her time at Spring Valley, she has taught subjects in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. Her teaching philosophy is that students learn best with explicit, multisensory instruction, and a multitude of read-alouds! When Mrs. Gillespie is not with her 3rd graders, she is at home with her husband, Justin, her son, Jace, and her dog, Patriot.
