The Value of a Spring Valley Education
Spring Valley faculty attend to academic, social, and emotional development simultaneously.
Our 4:1 student-teacher ratio ensures that interactions are meaningful and effective, and that every learner is fully seen and valued. Our teachers are fully devoted to our students and to our parents–fostering shared goals and consistent support.
Additionally, we offer a wide range of typical school experiences and extracurricular activities—including art, music, clubs, team sports, school-wide dances, and pep rallies — blending all the benefits of a conventional and specialized educational environment.
Our staff and our school are not just liked—they’re beloved.
6+ integrated therapy programs offered
SVS employs the highest number of in-house Certified Academic Language Therapists in the state, holding the highest level of certification in structured literacy and providing daily 50-minute dyslexia therapy.
Other integrated, daily services include: math intervention, executive function coaching, assistive technology, sensory-free environments, speech-language pathology, and occupational therapy.
100% of Spring Valley School graduates are enrolled in higher education or employed upon graduation from high school.
1:1 College and Career Counseling provides guidance in post-secondary planning, career selection, standardized testing (accommodations and preparation), college applications and essay writing, and financial aid and scholarship acquisition.
Rising graduates earn up to 12 hours of college credit before graduation through Spring Valley's Dual Enrollment program, in partnership with Landmark College.
Instruction is tailored for students with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, dysgraphia, and executive function challenges. Faculty are trained in the latest brain-based instruction and multisensory learning modalities.
Our curriculum is appropriately challenging, yet adaptive and responsive to each child’s unique needs. We individualize teaching to align with each child’s learning style, abilities, interests, and curiosities.
Routine psychometric student achievement data is collected through several avenues such as our dyslexia therapy program Take Flight and AimsWeb testing. These are verified and standardized metrics that we use in order to track a student's growth and for ongoing progress monitoring while they are here.
When student achievement is research-driven, it results in prescriptive education and intervention for each individual student. For students with learning differences, this means designing customized instructional plans, modifying teaching strategies, and targeting support services to help close academic gaps effectively.
In-House Therapy Advantages
The following apply to all LD-specific interventions and therapies, including Dyslexia Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, and Math Intervention.
Immediate Access
Outside therapy often means waiting 12–18+ months. At SVS, students start receiving support on day one of school.
Better Value
Outside therapy can cost an average of $14,400 annually, solely for dyslexia therapy. At SVS, families invest $10,800 annually (included in tuition) for 5 sessions per week—plus the benefit of a whole-school experience.
Take Back Your Family’s Time
Therapy happens seamlessly within the school day, saving families hours of driving, scheduling, and stress.
Expertise That Matters
Our specialists complete 200+ hours of CALT training plus 700+ practicum and curriculum integration hours – compared to the standard 30–80 hours of non-practicum instruction completed by outside providers.

Are there ways to make an SVS education more affordable?
Use of Section 529 Plans to Pay Tuition
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 contains a provision that allows the use of Section 529 accounts to pay for private K-12 education up to $10,000 per year, per child starting in 2018. These accounts can be established by parents, grandparents, or family friends and contributions can receive state tax advantages. The investments grow tax free and withdrawals are not taxed on capital gains, to the extent they are used to fund qualified educational expenses. There is additional information on this new tax law change on the Saving for College website.
Medical Expenses as Itemized Deductions
If you itemize your tax deductions, you may be able to include tuition in medical expenses for the cost of attending Spring Valley School, as a Special Education tuition expense. For more information, see IRS Publication 502 Medical and Dental Expenses for use in preparing returns, and/or check with your tax professional.
Extended Family Support
Some of our families receive assistance with tuition from relatives. While there is an annual limit on gifts to others, gifts of tuition are not limited.
