Mary Trotman

Mary Trotman is the Elementary Art Teacher and Resource Substitute at Spring Valley School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design with a minor in Art from Auburn University. Before joining Spring Valley, she worked in space planning and interior design for the healthcare industry and taught art for the non-profit "Created for a Purpose." She has also served as Craft Chairman for Vacation Bible School and Carnival Design Chairman for elementary school events.

Mary has been recognized with the Spring Valley Lucy Welsch Award and the SVS Lifetime Achievement Award. She is involved in theater set design and leads the Creative Bracelet Club for middle school students.

In her free time, Mary enjoys art, gardening, architecture and design, and sewing. She loves engaging with her students, especially during spontaneous conversations that arise when they learn something new. She admires their creativity and sees them as natural storytellers. One of her favorite quotes is, “We can’t direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.”
