Maggie Raburn

Maggie Raburn is a 6th and 7th Grade Math Teacher at Spring Valley School, where she has taught for nine years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The University of Alabama. Maggie is trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach and has completed the Marilyn Zecher Multisensory Math Training. In 2022, she was honored with the Lucy Welch Award.

As the sponsor of the Kind Club, Maggie is passionate about fostering kindness and community among her students. In her free time, she enjoys reading and playing tennis.

Maggie finds joy in witnessing her students’ confidence grow and highlighting their individual strengths. She engages her 6th graders in hands-on projects like creating a coordinate plane city, while her 7th graders enjoy the food truck project, where they develop food truck concepts and menus, and practice math skills like calculating gratuity and discounts.

She believes that individuals with learning differences are often creative and capable of thinking outside the box, which enriches the learning environment at Spring Valley.
