Laura Webb

Laura Webb is a 5th Grade Teacher and Dyslexia Therapist at Spring Valley School. She graduated from Birmingham-Southern College and has previous experience as a 6th Grade Inclusion Teacher at Oak Mountain Middle School and a 5th Grade Teacher at Moody Middle School. Laura holds dual certifications in Elementary and Special Education and is a Certified Academic Language Practitioner.

In addition to her teaching role, she leads the Sit and Stitch club, where she enjoys sewing, crocheting, crafting, and reading. Laura loves that her students are unique and that, in the small environment of Spring Valley, they can be known and celebrated for their strengths and talents.

She incorporates writing skills throughout the year, helping her students create engaging narratives. Laura believes that learning differences are just that—differences. They do not diminish a student's intelligence or capabilities; in fact, many of her students possess remarkable gifts that, with the right tools and support, can truly shine.

As a Dyslexia Therapist, she emphasizes that dyslexia is a brain-based difference, not a result of lack of intelligence or motivation. Many students with dyslexia are innovative thinkers who bring unique perspectives to learning. One of the most notable aspects of Spring Valley is that all students are recognized and valued. The small class sizes allow for meaningful relationships with students and their families, enabling collaboration to identify effective methods and strategies that align with how students learn.

Outside of the classroom, Laura is a huge musical theater fan and loves to sing show tunes.
