Kevin Campbell
Kevin Campbell is the Director of Research and Upper School Math Teacher at Spring Valley School. He holds a PhD and a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), as well as a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Gettysburg College. From 2017 to 2022, Kevin taught introductory algebra through Calculus II at UAB, gaining valuable experience in advanced math instruction.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Kevin leads the Game Club at Spring Valley. He values the personal connections he forms with students, believing that knowing each student both individually and academically makes fostering their growth highly rewarding.
Kevin particularly enjoys teaching Calculus, especially when students can see the relationship between math and the physical world, which has been further enhanced by the concurrent Physics course many of his students take. He emphasizes that while there is no "cure" for learning disabilities, the goal is to build scaffolds and methods to mitigate their impact, recognizing that this will be a lifelong journey for students.
Committed to making learning accessible for all without lowering expectations, Kevin stresses the importance of distinguishing between modifications and accommodations to support student success.
