Heather Hancock
Heather Hancock is an Upper School Foreign Language Teacher at Spring Valley School, bringing over 10 years of experience as a Spanish teacher in elementary education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Samford University. Heather sponsors the Spanish and ASL Lunch/Dance Club, providing students with a fun and interactive way to engage with language learning outside of the classroom.
In her free time, Heather enjoys spending time with her kids and pets at home. She values the connections she builds with her students and loves watching them grow and mature in their unique ways. Her goal is to excite and motivate her students to become strong, independent learners.
Heather incorporates a "Question of the Day" in both languages to encourage daily verbal practice and build student confidence. A highlight of her curriculum is the end-of-year field trip conducted in Spanish, where students participate in a scavenger hunt at Mi Pueblo Supermercado and enjoy a meal at a local Mexican restaurant.
She believes that her students are bright and capable individuals, and she strives to work with each student to understand their personalities and needs, focusing on the whole person. Heather often expresses that her students have become like family to her.
