"Why do you enjoy teaching SVS students?"
In the Words of Our Faculty:
I love watching our students' confidence, self-worth, and self-image grow and improve as they work to achieve their goals.
Spring Valley School is focused on providing specialized instruction in an environment conducive to students with a variety of learning differences; therefore, providing teachers with opportunities for learning and growth is a very important part of Spring Valley. I am grateful for my opportunity to go through the process of becoming a Certified Academic Language Practitioner and to continue on the path to becoming a Certified Academic Language Therapist because of Spring Valley School.
I love seeing our students' self-confidence rebound and grow. So many students arrive feeling defeated, and I get to watch them believe in themselves again and become the happy, confident versions of themselves that their parents knew before.
Our class sizes are small which makes growth tangible and realistic. You get to know the students and their parents well making for an extremely positive experience where everyone is on board to achieve the same goal - help students be successful.
I love that we're a small school and often teach the same students for multiple years. I've love the relationships I build with my students, but most of all, I love watching them grow as individuals. It's so rewarding to watch them become more empowered and confident during their time at SVS.
It is very rewarding to be a part of the life changing journey taking a non-reader to being a skilled reader.
The students are creative, persevering , and supportive of each other and the community thrives because of kindness and mutual respect.
Getting to see kids shine in ways they did not think was possible is the greatest reward. Each success, no matter how small, is a testament to their hard work and determination, and it reminds me of the power of a supportive learning environment in helping them thrive.
The best experience of teaching at SVS is watching students break through the walls they've created to protect themselves from their previous school environments. It's incredibly rewarding to witness their transformation as they begin to trust the classroom community, feel safe to express themselves, and engage fully in learning. Helping them realize their potential once those barriers come down is one of the most fulfilling aspects of teaching. It’s a privilege to guide them through that journey and see them grow both academically and personally.
I love being able to work with students in a smaller setting. I am really able to get to know my students, which helps me understand exactly how I can best support them.
Watching when students who are defeated in school start to thrive and actually enjoy learning because they found out they are very capable, but learn in a different way.
