About SVS

Our Mission Statement
The Spring Valley School is an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational, non-profit school whose mission is to provide excellence in education for students with learning differences.

Who We Are
We strive to be a community where children from grades 3—12 can master critical skills and develop the necessary tools for life-long learning. We provide, through individualized learning strategies and a multi-sensory approach, a broad-based curriculum to students that have average or above-average intelligence. Our students typically might have a diagnosis of learning disability, dyslexia, speech/language delay, or attention deficit disorder.

Our Objectives
Our objective is to provide a broad-based curriculum to students with learning differences that have average and above intelligence through individualized learning strategies. These students may have a diagnosis of learning disability, dyslexia, speech/language delay, or attention deficit disorder. They may experience difficulty in reading, spelling, handwriting, written language, mathematics, organization, and study skills. The Spring Valley School’s objective is to provide a safe, supportive, nurturing environment helping each child develop his or her natural strengths in order to inspire self-confidence.

Our Guiding Values
We believe that it is important to establish a nurturing environment, appreciating each student for what he/she is and what he/she can do rather than what he/she is not and what he/she cannot do. Believing that a positive self-image is the first step to becoming a successful person, we will work to highlight each student’s natural strengths and abilities. We will work to uncover and enhance the unique learning styles, talents, and interests of each student so that learning can follow. We value the full range of human diversity and seek to involve diverse populations in our students, staff, and board.

“Can Do!”

We encourage all of our students to take command of their own learning process, and we encourage a sense of “can do” on the part of all of our students. Visit our school and see the activities in which our children are involved.
